Commissioner: I, Jeremy Crouse, am the main commissioner of this league and will be the final decision-maker for league policy. You must agree with this before joining the league.
You must read the rules in the entirety before joining, and doing anything in our league. You must also have an understanding that you will follow them and accept them.
If you are willing to just follow those simple rules we would like you on board and to be around for a fun, active league.
Price: This league is free. Fun for all!
Rosters: A roster must include the following: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, DH, 5 SP, 5 RP.
Setting Rosters Deadline: The deadline is ASAP, and couple days before the season starts. You must have your roster set for opening day. You must also be under the cap. Big fines will come if you are over the cap on opening day. You can make changes in the middle of the season though.
Roster Limit: We use a 25-man roster, with probably 12 batters, and 13 pitchers. We will have 2 bench batters, and 3 benched pitchers. Since we use minors, we will also have a 40-man roster like the MLB. If one of your players gets hurt, we put him on the DL, and someone on your 40-man roster from the minors will come up for him temporarily. You may choose the call-up, just post it in the Call Up/Send Down board. 100 is the limit for minors. You may have just one minor league team with 100, or 4 with 25, etc.
Releasing a player: When you release a player, you do not get off the hook entirely. When you release a guy from your team, you will be responsible for 1/2 of his salary per year, until his contract is up. So for example, say i had Jeff Suppan signed for a 2 year deal, and $8M total, and $4M per year, and he was in his first year. Let's say i decided to cut him, i would have to give him $2M this year, and $2M next year.
Scoring: Match ups will be weekly head-to-head with interleague play, and the winner of the match up is awarded a single win. Standings will be kept accordingly. We will use Fantrax for scoring. All trades, extensions, DFAs, etc. will be negotiated on ProBoards. Fantrax is only for scoring. We will use 6x6 scoring. Hitters- R, RBI, AVG, HR, SB, OPS. Pitchers- W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, HLD.
Defense Points: There are no defensive points in this league.
Playoffs: A winner from each division plus one wild-card winner in each league will advance to the playoffs, with each league's winner facing off in a World Series.
Salary Schedule:
mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/
On the left, click your team. Then look at the salaries. Then record those salaries in your team sections. Most of these you can easily copy and paste.
Salary Cap: Each team has a hard salary cap of $175
Designated for Assignment + Waivers: If you DFA a guy, then they will be placed on waivers for two days. Anyone can claim them for free. If more than one person claims the player, the team with the worst record gets him. If no one claims the guy after two days, the player will be sent back to its original team and sent to Triple-A and be taken off their 40-man roster
Free Agency: Free Agents will be auctioned off, meaning every team has the chance to acquire a free agent. As in an auction, the highest bidder wins. However, to win the auction, your bid must stand the highest for 72 hours. The minimum contract length is 1 year. The maximum is 7 years. At any point in the bidding process, an increase in the contract length without reducing the average annual salary by more than 25% trumps the previous bid.
Conversely, a contract offer of 1 year shorter and a 25% increase in annualized salary will trump the previous offer. A contract offer of 2 years shorter and a 75% increase in annualized salary will trump the previous offer. Club options do not count towards deciding the winner in free agency bidding in any way. They are not used in calculating annualized salary or counted as an extra year in the contract.
The minimum salary per year is 0.4 M.
The minimum bid increment per year for bids under 7.5 m per year is 0.1 M.
The minimum bid increment per year for bids from 7.5 M - 20 M is 0.5 M.
The minimum bid increment per year for bids above 20 M is 2.5 M.
To keep teams from front-loading or back-loading contracts, in any contract submitted, the highest salary year can only be 20% more than the contracts yearly average, and the minimum salary can only be 20% less than the contracts yearly average. If a contract does not meet these guidelines, the bid will not count. Teams may place a club option on the end of any contract, but it will not be counted toward the avg. yearly salary. Club options must be 20% higher than highest yearly salary in contract. However, all club options must feature a buyout, at 25% of the club option.
It is the owners discretion whether to exercise a club option at the end of the year. Owners will have 1 month from end of world series to decide whether to exercise the option or not. If owners do not exercise the club option, then the player automatically becomes a free agent and the owner must pay the 25% buyout.
Free agency starts one month after the world series ends. The month between the world series and free agency will be used for teams to decide on whether to exercise club options on players. Teams will also assign Franchise and Restricted tags at this time. Other than this one month closure, free agency will run year round.
All minors that are cut from teams for space, or undrafted can be signed if you put in a claim to get approved by a commish.
International Players: If there are international players, they will first be placed in the free agent pool. If the bidding gets out of control, then there will be a silent bid, where you send a bid to one of the 3 commissioners, which is not in the bidding, to make it fair, and will the player will be given to the highest bidder.
Arbitration and Extensions:
A player is Arb. eligible if he has more then 3 yrs but less then 6 yrs of MLB service according to the Cot's calculations.
That means the current season doesn't count.
If a player is on a 1 year contract but has less then 3 years of mlb service(as it is with most young players),they will get an automatic 1 year extension under the same salary condition. The Auto-Resign Rule.
This will continue until a player is eligible for arbitration. All extensions must be approved by 1 cimmissioner before becoming official. That includes any extensions made by commissioners, they also must be approved by another commissioner.

Trade Approval: A trade must be posted in the 'Trades' section. They are all approved after 48 hours unless brought to a commish decision. They can be discussed with thoughts/complaints and if the commishes deem it necessary it will be brought to vote.
No commishes involved means a 3-2 vote approves it.
One commish involved means a 3-1 vote can approve it.
Two commish ivolved means a 2-1 vote can approve it.
Trade Info: You cannot trade a player you dont have yet. So if you have a guy in a deal thats in voting period, you cannot trade him until your trade is official. When posting trades, please post the contract infos of the players involved next to their name. For example, Player A 11: 5 M 12: 9 M for Player B 11: 3 M 12: 5 M 13: 7 M
Trade Deadline: July 31st each year. This is the same date as the MLB trade deadline.
Draft: We will hold a draft each year before the season. The draft will probably last six rounds, and all players drafted in the most currently-finished draft are eligible. The order is in reverse order of finish from the season just finished. A team has 12 hours to make their pick from the time that the previous team has made their pick. If they do not choose within that time period, then I will make their pick for them, and it will likely not be the player they desire. Players that go undrafted, but have signed a pro contract, are put on waivers in this league. Players that go undrafted, but have not signed a pro contract in real life, will automatically be placed into the next year's draft pool. All players that are drafted have their rights retained indefinitely, until they reach free agency in our league structure.
Draft Pick Trading: Draft picks may be traded before the draft. You can trade them up to 3 days before the draft and you may trade recently-drafted picks as soon as the draft is concluded.
Collusion: Any owners found colluding will be dismissed immediately, and their transactions will be reversed.
