I think this is a great league. But before I commit to it, I have a question, will there be hometown discounts, or playoff discounts of some time. Maybe if you made the playoffs last year or had the player last year, you can add a year and reduce the amount of money by 30%. Or conversely, reduce the last bid by a year and then only 20%.
Lastly, there seems to be contradiction in the rules. There is a minimum bid increment but also the rule that a contract offer of 1 year shorter and a 25% increase in annualized salary will trump the previous offer. So let's say I'm bidding on Aaron Hill and someone else offers 8 mil avg for 3 years. Can I offer 7.5 mil over 2 years or no? Although I reduced the contract amount by less than 25%, I did not increase the bid by at least .1 mil. The two rules seem to contradict each other, and which one will be the one that is enforced?

Whichever amount has the higher amount per year will win the bid, but you must increase the amount of money as stated in your first paragraph.

Free Agency: Free Agents will be auctioned off, meaning every team has the chance to acquire a free agent. As in an auction, the highest bidder wins. However, to win the auction, your bid must stand the highest for 72 hours. The minimum contract length is 1 year. The maximum is 7 years. At any point in the bidding process, an increase in the contract length without reducing the average annual salary by more than 25% trumps the previous bid.
Conversely, a contract offer of 1 year shorter and a 25% increase in annualized salary will trump the previous offer. A contract offer of 2 years shorter and a 75% increase in annualized salary will trump the previous offer. Club options do not count towards deciding the winner in free agency bidding in any way. They are not used in calculating annualized salary or counted as an extra year in the contract.
The minimum salary per year is 0.4 M.
The minimum bid increment per year for bids under 7.5 m per year is 0.1 M. The minimum bid increment per year for bids from 7.5 M - 20 M is 0.5 M. The minimum bid increment per year for bids above 20 M is 2.5 M.

I don't understand the point of this rule, since you're not allowed to reduce the average annual salary...

K. I'm definitely joining the league. Last two things. Will the team that had the player last year have any more sway over the player in free agency. Some kind of provision that allows the team that had him last year sign the free agent easier?
2) Do you want some kind of advertisements for the league. We should probably try to fill the league sometime soon...

haven't thought about ur first question, was planning on having whoever bids the highest takes the player, there are rules in regards to a Restricted Tag that ppl bid and then who ever put the tag on can decide to top the top bid or let the other guy have him, as for the second question, yes advertise, the more ppl that advertise, the betterthe chacnes of us getting this league going for the 2012 season
